This box includes the ingredients for French Toast, but does not include vanilla or cinnamon, which most people use to make French Toast. A single batch is enough to make French Toast for two hungry people or three people with a light appetite. There will be leftover milk and eggs for a single loaf of French Toast.
One loaf of challah (or two, for a double batch)
One quart of milk
One dozen eggs
- Beat 4 eggs slightly.
- Add 1/2 tsp salt, & 1 cup milk
- Flavor with 1/2 tsp vanilla or 1 tbsp rum
- Dip into this mixture 8 slices of bread
- Brown bread each side on hot, well-buttered griddle. (I'd like to suggest you do it on a lower heat as there's so much batter in the bread it will be gooey inside unless you cook it slowly at first.)
- Serve hot sprinkled with sugar, cinnamon, and garnish with bright red jelly.
- Or, serve in a pool of maple syrup topped with mounds of whipped cream!
